December 17, 2024

December 17th What does that mean for you as a high performer, high performing leader, high achiever who is also a heartcentred creative, professional or entrepreneur?

Do you know the significance of December 17th?

It is the death anniversary of Rumi the most read poet in the West.

You are confused about celebrating a death anniversary yes!

Who celebrates death?

In a world where we are scared of death and deny the reality of it, despite it being the inevitable realities of life, death and taxes you cannot escape from, let me remind you of the truth.

I don’t want to be morbid but I want to remind you of the reality of this very short life.

And you are one of the beautiful souls I  suspect that are wanting, yearning to leave a lasting legacy aren’t you before you depart? Hence all the achievements you have amassed?

There is something very beautiful about death when a soul leaves the world with a legacy intact isn’t there?

I visited my mother’s friend who passed away at home recently. She was there in her front room lying there. She had passed away several hours earlier by the time I arrived at her home. The peace and tranquility that her face revealed, I will never forget. I have never seen such a peaceful sight of death. I have never witnessed such beauty in death as that recent sight of my mother’s friend.

Perhaps because I am becoming more comfortable with death since my father passed away when I was thirty eight years old and I was there when my mother breathed her last breath in 2021. I was by her side in the last thirteen hours of her life miraculously during the COVID pandemic. And she died in hospital.

Seeing a soul who has been trapped in a body as it leaves the body, to be reunited with their beloved is a sight to see!

It’s so romantic.

I am a romantic!

And that is why Rumi’s death anniversary is celebrated in Turkey, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India and Iran. Children make cards and everyone recites his poems. The whirling dervishes whirl like they have never whirled before.

Because he travelled on 17th December  from this material realm to the spiritual realm.

He was reunited to his beloved God and to Prophet Muhammad and all the Prophets and also to his teacher the Dervish Shams Tabriz who set him on fire.

Rumi symbolises a radical universal love that was needed in the time he lived.

The kind of love that doesn’t see faith, gender, nationality, skin colour or class.

The kind of love that just sees another human being.

This fiery love that just wants to embrace you and hold you and consume you with its passion for life.

This love that refuses to descend into the dramas around and the endless campaign to divide and hate, blame and recrimination.

This simple love that sets your soul on fire and sets your body dancing and whirling .

Yes today is the death anniversary of Rumi. I would argue as a heartcentred professional, who has been a social worker for over 33 years and a heartcentred entrepreneur for over 5 years and a heartcentred creative for most of my life, this is an important anniversary for you too.

Let’s join in remembering Rumi and reading his poetry and remembering that the heart is pink 🩷 in terms of the chakras. The colour therapists say so according to my therapist that being heartcentred is pink 🩷.

Yes in this world which feels so divided and broken and on the verge of extremes and strangled by the adversarial conversations and discussions, let us remind ourselves of Rumi and his standing for love and justice.

Let’s remind ourselves of how he spoke so calmly and eloquently to the Mongol general about to devastate Konya.

With his love, embracing love, this resulted in Rumi being successful in saving Konya by being rampaged and ransacked by the Mongol army and Konya was saved.

Rumi, his life, his poetry and even his death is a testament to love.

In a world full of hate and misunderstanding let’s wear pink 🩷 whether it is a hat or a scarf or write with a pink pen, let’s join the pink 🩷 movement or the pink 🩷 club to show our solidarity with love.

Remember justice is the public expression of love and let’s stand for justice against Technofacism.

In a world where we increasingly look for answers in an external ideology, person, online let’s do instead what Rumi advised:

There is a Soul inside of your Soul,

Search that Soul,

There is a jewel in the mountain of  body,

Look for that mine of jewel,

Oh Sufi passing,

Search inside if you can not outside.

These are the words of Jalal ak Din Rumi

That is why I offer The Reflective Space online so you have a safe and non judgemental space to find those answers within you to whatever problem you are going through.

I am known as The Muslim Alchemist because I transform the crap that is inside of you to golden opportunities where you connect to the Gold within you.

I am the bridge from personal development and therapy to transformational coaching.

Because you don’t want information you want transformation.

You want to be transformed like Rumi was when he met Shams Tabriz this merchant selling trousers in the market place.

You want to be set on fire, your soul to be set on fire so you can write poetry like he did, say what you have always wanted to say to the world, this divided world.

I have said in the past that I am 21st Century Shams looking for a 21st Century Rumi.

I am a merchant in the online market place though selling not trousers but a reflective space where you can find answers within you.

Come and join me in a reflective space I have set up online called The Reflective Space Writing challenge it is a free challenge you can join.

It is available for you to join until 29th December.

The Reflective Space Writing challenge is on Telegram and you can join via this link.

https://t.me/+gYJKoX9iJv5iNjU0

And as I said it’s free!

By joining The Reflective Space Writing challenge you will have a taste of The Reflective Space Adventure aka The Spiritual Alchemy Quest and The Reflective Space Consultation or The Reflective Space Sessions

Oh that’s an adventure worth embarking on!

I will be talking more about that as the holiday season approaches.

For now all I want is you to join the pink 🩷 movement or pink 🩷 club. You don’t need to join an online community for that just wear a pink 🩷 hat or use a pink 🩷 pen or wear something pink 🩷 to show your solidarity with embracing justice and this radical love that goes beyond faith, skin colour, nationality and class.

Taniya Hussain qualified as a Social Worker in 1991 from Coventry University in England, UK. She has been working on the front lines in London UK, consistently holding space for individuals and families in chaos and crisis for three decades especially, children and young people on the margins of society. Taniya studied Psycho-dynamic counselling from 1991 to 1993 at Goldsmiths College in London. Taniya met Sheikha Halima Krausen in 1992 and has been studying Islam with her ever since especially Mystical Islam, Tassawuf (Sufism) and walks on the Chisti path. Taniya fuses Jungian Pyschology and Islamic Psychology and this fusion can best be understood if you read her book Dancing with Darkness which is available on Amazon. It became a Best Seller on Amazon in the UK, U.S and France in April 2025. The book tells the story of Tamara Alvi, a fictional charachter and is a psychological thriller and a story of healing. Taniya started her coaching and consulting business in January 2018 and she works mainly with High Achievers and High Performers and High Performing Leaders, offering reflective spaces since 2018 and what she refers to as THE REFLECTIVE SPACE. Taniya since starting her busines discovered that she is a powerful healer and was shocked that clients were relieved from pain even though they have been diagnosed with a chronic illness. Taniya is delighted to have discovered Paceology, which is the detailed study of PACE. She is the first paceologist. She noticed when working with high performers when you slow down in one area of your life, this causes you to speed up in another area and vice cersa thus leading to increased levels of productivity, creativity, clarity and energy. She brands herself as the Muslim Alchemist because she really is The Muslim Alchemist as she guides you to transfom the base, in other words the shit that you have experienced into GOLD whether that is love of yourself or God or another human being or a healthier body or a life where you feel at peace and calm and fulfilled or more energy or more money. You definintely will feel lighter, more freer and more clearer even if you book one consultation with her or several sessions. Taniya has a very holistic approach when working with individuals and works with you on multiple layers, the emotional, the psychological, the social, the physical, the mental and the spriritual. She uses stories from the Quran and the Bible when working with clients on a one to one basis or in group workshops as well as breathwork, body scanning, cognitive behavioural therapy, neuro linguistic programming, motivational interviewing. systems theory, neuro science. She is trained in multiple modalities as well as using her own Paceology and insists on offering her clients a trauma informed and trauma responsive service. She is constantly integrating her knowledge of the Quran and Bible with her vast social work experience and training. Taniya's extensive ability of applying psycho-dynamic theory to organisational settings, teams and groups as well as to individuals results in those who attend her sessions or workshops as feeling lighter and more energised. Taniya uses skillfully her understanding of the Shadow, that Jung constantly talked about and her Mystical Training. She also has integrated her passion for inter-faith dialogue and the archetypes that Jung often refers to, come alive in her one to one sessions and her group workshops thus resulting in individuals feeling more freer and fulfilled after they stop working with her. Taniya just does not provide clarity she WAKES you up to. Taniya has a great skill in being able to see the blind spots in others and does this in a non judgemental way and a way that you feel safe. She also "untangles energetic knots" (a term she uses for Shadow) in your body to promote healing from mental and physical disease. Clients usually are healed in a short amount of time because she pinpoints the memory, the event, the thought that first caused the disease. She also provides one to one sessios or training workshops to social work teams, school, secure and prison estate on youth justice, knife crime prevention as well asidentification and prevention of early onset of burnout. Taniya has three sons, who were born in 1996, 2001 and 200 and lives in Surrey, England and when she is not coaching or writing songs, blogs and poems, she loves to spend time, travelling, walking, listening to music, watching films or playing cricket. She speaks fluent English and Urdu and basic German and French and is learning Arabic and Hebrew.
